Let me tell you a story…
It’s a summer afternoon and Natsumi, age 10, is here to express herself. She doesn’t want to act in a play — “I don't like it when eyes are on me,” — but she loves designing her own puppets and creating shows in our vacation week programs. “I still want to be known,” says Natsumi.
So, Natsumi comes to the Puppet Adventure Program to learn how to make characters, build puppets, and join with other kids to tell her own stories.
And what stories they tell! We see bears chasing bees, a baseball game, a princess, a jail…. “It's fun to see how different people are creative in different ways,” Natsumi agrees.
All kids and families deserve to have this experience, and that’s why, in our 50th anniversary year, we’re building a scholarship program for the Puppet Adventure Program.
Currently, we reach over 1,400 kids annually with Affordable Access tickets, but we need your help to ensure that no child is turned away for lack of funds.
Will you make a gift today so that more children can express themselves through puppetry, like Natsumi?
