About the Workshop
The ability to react spontaneously and truthfully is not only an essential life skill, but a highly valuable performance technique! In this workshop, we will establish a safe space in which we can re-learn how to be playful, follow impulses, be honest onstage, and find connections between ourselves, our scene partners, and the audience. The workshop will be structured around a series of exercises, games, and scene structures, based on Stoph Scheer's training and professional experience as an improv comedian, interactive theatre-maker, and theatrical clown.
Performance experience is encouraged, but anyone with an open heart and an interest in playfulness is welcome to sign up!
Recommended for adults 18+
About the Instructor
Stoph Scheer (she/her) is an interdisciplinary performing artist who has worked in theatre and television for eighteen years. She is one of the first openly trans women to ever puppeteer in Hollywood, where she has worked for Disney and the Jim Henson Company. She performs regularly as an improviser in Brian Henson's Puppet Up! and did long-form improv for years as part of the two-person show SHRINK: Puppet Therapy. Her background in clown theatre informs her improv as well as her original theatre creations. She is a resident actor at Lost Nation Theater of Vermont and the co-founder of Doppelskope Puppet Theatre.
