Explore object puppetry and creating puppet from unusual materials with Puzzle Théâtre in a one-evening workshop on November 21.

About the Weekend

Founded in Bulgaria and based in Montréal, Puzzle Théâtre returns to Puppet Showplace Theater with three wordless shows full of humor and feeling. Join us for one show, or for all three — you definitely don’t want to miss it!

Bois (Woods):

A green leaf that grows on a dead branch, pieces of wood that come together to form strange creatures, some hostile, some comical... A curious world that surprises, amazes, and inspires. A world that also makes you think and wonder. In keeping with its artistic approach, Puzzle Théâtre is once again drawing inspiration from a whole new medium to create an atypical, colorful puppet show, full of humor and unexpected situations.
Recommended for all ages, especially enjoyed by ages 4 - 10

Plastique (Plastic)

What is more surprising than a world of plastic bags, where funny and colorful creatures are born, and transform themselves as much as they like! They fill themselves, they empty themselves, they fly, they eat each other, they are bored... They exist. Step by step they reveal their nature. They are primitive, naive, and funny, and they resemble us a little bit... maybe…
Recommended for all ages, especially enjoyed by ages 4 - 10

Jetable (Disposable):

Nameless, faceless beings emerge from a box of tissues to begin a journey. It is a journey through a life marked by first encounters: surprise, fear, anger, the inexplicable, the other, oneself... They explore the possibilities and push the limits with candor and amazement. Where will this journey take them? One thing is certain: you'll never see handkerchiefs in the same way again...
Recommended for adults, teens & youth 10+

Stay after every show to meet the artists and see the puppets up close — the artists of Puzzle Théâtre speak English, Spanish, French, Bulgarian, Hungarian, and Russian!

Length: 40 minutes each
Language: English, wordless
From Quebec!

About the Artist

Founded in 1996 in Bulgaria and established in Montreal since 2004, Puzzle Théâtre has a unique style by combining various types in the traditional and the contemporary: drama theatre, object and puppet theatre. The company distinguishes itself by the coloured amalgam of styles and the great diversity of means of expression that it proposes. Leave the audience the freedom to interpret the unmentioned, to freely associate ideas and allow it to feel what is not explicitly told. This is what became the artistic characteristic of the company.
