About the Show

Puppet Playtime is a fun, interactive performance experience designed for very young children and their grown ups. In each hour-long session, a friendly performer guides kids through free play, sing-a-longs, interactive stories, imagination games, and other activities. Puppet pals join in the fun all along the way. Puppet Playtime is a great introduction for toddlers to the experience of live performance. We provide a welcoming "lights-on" flexible environment for children and caretakers alike!

For ages 0 - 3

Masks are strongly encouraged for audience members ages 2+

About the Artist

Leigh Baltzer offers Puppet Story Time at libraries and schools—and online!—where puppets read stories & sing songs with the kids. She also performs original shows (in person) which focus on themes of courage, persistence, friendship, and bullying.

The core of Leigh’s work's passion is to inspire a child's sense of wonder. In this day and age of parents' "Struggle Against Screen Time" and their "Battle Against Electronics," she feels fortunate to be able to interact with children face to face, rather "Facebook to Facebook." She is honored to be part of the spark that ignites their imaginations as they begin to discover who they are at the center of their being.

At the center of Leigh’s being lives a puppeteer.

At the center of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want.
— Lao Tzu

She has known this since she was 6, putting on endless puppet shows for her ever-tolerant family. In Leigh’s early adult years she tried to suppress this creative energy—trading in ger puppets for a respectable, acceptable adult career. After earning two master's degrees in Elementary Education and Film/Television, she discovered she was still a puppeteer at heart—just older, wiser, and more educated. Today, Leigh is proud and grateful to be on a journey that encompasses creativity, positive energy, and a love for learning.
