A Busy Weekend at the PST

Hello everyone!
We hope that you and yours are having a pleasant holiday weekend!
Thanksgiving weekend is traditionally a busy one for us here at the Puppet Showplace. Because of this, we strongly suggest reserving tickets for "Father Goose Tales" in advance.
Performances are at 1pm and 3pm on both Saturday and Sunday. This show is suggested for ages 4 and up and showcases shadow puppetry.

You can learn more about Jim Napolitano and Nappy's Puppets by going here: Nappy's Puppets.

If you have questions, or would like to reserve tickets, please give us a call at 617-731-6400.

Upcoming shows and events

Many of you have been calling and asking if we have a show on Monday the 12th. Your eyes are not fooling you! We have showings of "Puss in Boots" at 1pm and 3pm. We generally do not have shows on Mondays, but the 12th is Veteran's Day.

Aaaaaand in grown-up puppet news: on Saturday the 17th we are having a Puppet Slam! What is a Puppet Slam, you ask? A Puppet Slam is a hard thing to explain. Our Slams showcase experimental puppetry at its finest. There will be performances that make you laugh, sing and think. There are lots of different kinds of puppetry being showcased at this Slam, including shadow and object puppetry. Curious as to what that means? Well, come on by the theater at 8pm on the 17th. We'll even have tasty snacks!

Don't Forget!

This weekend is our annual Halloween Extravaganza!
We will have plenty of goodies for boys and ghouls. There will also be a costume parade before each performance, so everyone is encouraged to dress up. The PST staff will be wearing their scariest/silliest costumes all weekend too!

We have performances of "Sir George and the Dragon" as presented by Pumpernickel Puppets at 1PM and 3PM on Saturday and Sunday.

A few announcements, and a fun video

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today we have a little news.
We're happy to announce a few new show dates.
Paul Vincent Davis will be returning on November 14th and 15th with "Bingo the Circus Dog", a staff favorite. The performances will be at 10:30, and are perfect for ages 3 and up.
We've also added "Here Come the Clowns" on December 26th and 27th at 1PM and 3PM. This show is also intended for ages 3 and up.

On Sunday the 28th at 4pm we will be having our annual meeting. Members of the Showplace and the community are welcome (and encouraged!) to attend. We will be discussing our achievements (both financial and creative) over the past year. Judy O'Hare will be giving a demonstration. There will be refreshments!

Finally, the other day our Artistic Director showed us this fantastic shadow puppet short:

Fun Halloween Goings-on @PST!

The weather is getting colder and the leaves are changing here in Brookline Village and we all know what that means...it is almost Halloween time!
On October 27th and 28th there will be lots of fun Halloween surprises and goodies for goblins and ghouls of all ages! Pumpernickel Puppets will be performing "Sir George and the Dragon" on the 27th and the 28th with showtimes at 1 and 3 PM.
On October 31st (Halloween!) and November 1st at 10:30 AM, Ann Davidson and her puppets will be performing "Witches' Brew." Come, wear your best costume, and enjoy the shows!

Also: Don't forget! On October 24th and 25th at 10:30 AM Nappy's Puppets will be performing "Sing-A-Long With Nappy." This promises to be a great time for kids 3 and up!

10/11 is Sold Out!

The 10/11 performance of "Johnny Appleseed" is sold out!
We do, however, have tickets available for both the 1 and 3 pm performances on Saturday and Sunday! This show is appropriate for ages 3 and up.
This is the first time Katie Adams has brought her Make Believe Theater to the PST, and we are glad to have her!
Johnny Appleseed is full of singing, learning, and story-telling. We hope that you enjoy the show as much as we do.

"Where do we eat?"

One of the most frequent questions we get here at the Puppet Showplace is "where can we get some lunch around here?"
There are lots of places to get tasty food in Brookline Village!
Right across the street from the PST there is a Bertucci's. They have pizza and pasta and yummy desserts.

And, a few doors up Station Street is Kookoo. They have coffee drinks for the grown-ups and juice for kids. They have some of the best sandwiches in town (even pb&j!), and excellent baked goods. The best thing is, everything is home-made and healthy!

If you're in the mood for a burrito or a quesadilla, Baja Betty's is just a hop, skip, and a jump from the post office on the corner of Station and Harvard. And, if you want some ice cream to cool you off in this unseasonably warm weather, Baja Betty's is just the ticket!
