Don’t Make Me Get Dressed by The Gottabees is "the goodest puppet show I ever saw!"
We're still buzzing with excitement from the premiere run of Don't Make Me Get Dressed by The Gottabees last month! With over 1,700 attendees, the show was definitely a hit — 9 out of 23 performances were completely sold out, with the remaining shows cozily crowded as well.
The Gottabees once again created a show that was funny, creative, and heartfelt, and, perhaps best of all, an accurate representation of the inner child, regardless of one’s actual age. "I think when I was really little, that's how I was,” commented one audience member.
Another young viewer deemed it "the goodest puppet show I ever saw!" And a grown-up in the audience echoed the sentiment, describing it as "a really spectacular show."
The Gottabees have been wowing audiences for the past 10 years, logging 512 performances of their three other shows, with total audiences exceeding 45,000. Now, they can update those numbers to 535 shows and more than 46,700 people! All four of The Gottabees’s shows premiered through Puppet Showplace Theater’s Incubator program — it’s amazing to realize that a show from our tiny stage in Brookline can go on to be enjoyed by so many people. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Don’t Make Me Get Dressed and The Gottabees!
P.S. During those three weeks, our community contributed over 150 children's clothing items to our first-ever Cradles to Crayons drive! Lynn Margherio, Cradles to Crayons Founder and CEO, beautifully captured the essence of our partnership, saying:
“A welcoming live theater experience like Don’t Make Me Get Dressed at Puppet Showplace Theater can help children feel loved, accepted, and valued — just like a new, warm coat that fits just right! Together, we can keep more kids safe, and families can help share the warmth.”
