Though our programming is extensive, there are some evenings that the theatre is available for rental for a reasonable fee. Since our own programming runs 50 weeks a year extended runs of outside shows are not practical. Theatrical productions, music presentations, lectures, films, fundraisers, and parties are some successful past uses of the space. The theatre legally holds 100, but 80 adults is the "comfortable capacity." No food or drink is allowed in the theatre, but the lobby is fine for that and included in the rental. Set-up and clean-up is the responsibility of the renter.

We have a small stage (approximately 13' wide x 9' deep with a 10' ceiling) with a very basic, bare-bones lighting system (you cannot add instruments). There is no reliable house sound system so you must bring your own. Seating in the theatre is on attractive benches that have backs and pads. Since the space is primarily used to present children's puppet theatre, the benches in the front of the theatre have very short legs.

The theatre is located on the ground floor of a National Historic Register building which has residential condominiums directly upstairs. For that reason we do not rent to groups presenting very loud activities, or shows that will continue past about 11 PM.

Puppet Showplace Theatre is conveniently located directly across the street from the Brookline Village T stop on the Green Riverside "D" Line. Parking is nearby at meters on the street (free after 6 PM) or in the parking garage at Brookline Place on Route 9 (on the other side of the subway tracks).
