The Puppet Showplace TheatreCore StaffKris Higgins, Executive DirectorKris is excited to be the new Executive Director of the Showplace. He brings non-profit management experience to PST, having recently directed a federally funded AmeriCorps national service program which benefited young children. Originally from Washington State, Kris moved to North Carolina to work with Habitat for Humanity, before managing the AmeriCorps and Children Together program. While in NC, he became involved with a local community theatre, and served on their board of directors as the Vice President, Production. With support from the wonderful staff, dedicated board, and enthusiastic performers, Kris looks forward to helping the Puppet Showplace Theatre grow. Kathleen Conroy Mukwashi, Artistic DirectorKathleen comes to PST with a background and passion for puppetry. She graduated with her Master's from the famed University of Connecticut Puppet Arts Program and was a former member of the Underground Railway Theater. Kathleen brings with her, experience in costume design, technical theater, theater production/management, and education. She has had an association with PST through the Boston Area Guild of Puppetry for many years. Kathleen is working on introducing new performers and performances at the theatre, continuing to present quality performances, establishing educational programming, and furthering community outreach. Hollie Fleming, Operations ManagerHollie's career at the Puppet Showplace has progressed rapidly. She began working in the Box Office, and soon after assumed the responsibility of Box Office Manager. She is now the Operations Manager, overseeing all aspects of the theatre, while grasping experience in marketing, public relations and graphic design. Hollie's diverse professional background was an anchor of experience that has assisted her along the way. She is competent in writing, radio, teaching, sales and retail. It was not a surprise that her degree was in communications, judging by the clear and friendly way she interfaces with our customers and advertisers, and her cheerful attitude is infectious even on the busiest days. Hollie is also a freelance writer, writing feature articles for local and national publications, including the Brookline Magazine and The Puppetry Journal Emily Piper, Box Office ManagerEmily hails from Upstate New York, where her previous experience with puppets was mainly limited to Chuck E. Cheese birthday parties and Sesame Street reruns. Since she has joined us, however, she has become a self-proclaimed "puppetry convert," putting on small puppet shows using the finger puppets and office supplies. This happens mostly when nobody else is around. While she knows this may be a symptom of impending mental illness, she hopes that instead, it will someday lead to a brilliant Slam piece. Before she came to us, Emily's previous incarnations included theatre major, nanny, and high school English teacher. She has BA in Theatre Arts and two teaching certifications and is pursing an MA in Theatre Education from Emerson College. She considers herself quite lucky to be able to be a part of this amazing place. Jill Domings, Technical Director |
